80s Reverb builds spaces from short rooms to long modulated ambience. Five Modes recall useful starting settings in one reverb engine. You can then reshape each with the same controls.
Quick start
- Begin with Hall, the fresh default: Decay 2.8 s, Size 110%, Predelay 10 ms, Modulation 18% and Mix about 25.1%.
- Adjust Decay for the length of the tail and Mix for its place behind the guitar.
- Increase Predelay if the initial attack needs more separation from the reverb.
- On page 2, raise Low Cut if the wet sound feels heavy, or lower High Cut for a darker return. Use Damping to make high frequencies die away faster.

| Control | Range or choices; fresh default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Mode | Hall / Chamber / Plate / Ambient / Room; Hall | Recalls a program's nine sound-shaping settings, preserving Mix and Trails. |
| Decay | 0.2–20 s; 2.8 s | Sets the nominal decay time. |
| Size | 40–180%; 110% | Changes the modeled space's internal timing and character. |
| Predelay | 0–200 ms; 10 ms | Adds separation before the reverberant response, including early reflections. |
| Modulation | 0–100%; 18% | Adds movement to the reverb texture. |
| Mix | 0–100%; About 25.1% | Blends dry audio and reverb. |

| Control | Range; fresh default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Damping | 0–100%; 45% | Makes high frequencies decay faster as it increases. |
| ER Level | 0–100%; 50% | Sets the level of early reflections within the wet sound. |
| Width | 50–200%; 120% | Scales the wet stereo spread. 100% is nominal; lower narrows it and higher widens it. |
| Low Cut | 20–2000 Hz; 70 Hz | Reduces low-frequency content in the reverb. |
| High Cut | 1000–20000 Hz; 7000 Hz | Reduces high-frequency content in the reverb. |
| Trails | Off / On; On | Lets the existing reverb tail continue when the block is bypassed. |
Choose a program
| Mode | Starting character | Recalled Decay / Size / Predelay |
|---|---|---|
| Hall | Broad space with moderate movement | 2.8 s / 110% / 10 ms |
| Chamber | Shorter, contained space with stronger early reflections | 1.8 s / 75% / 10 ms |
| Plate | Bright starting voicing with fewer early reflections | 2.4 s / 75% / 8 ms |
| Ambient | Long, spacious and more modulated | 7.5 s / 155% / 35 ms |
| Room | Compact space with prominent early reflections | 0.9 s / 45% / 4 ms |
These are editable programs, not separate algorithms. Changing Mode also recalls Damping, Modulation, ER Level, Width and both filters. Choose Mode before detailed edits, then save the Anagram preset. Recalling your edited preset should keep those edits rather than reapply the program. All controls remain active in every program.
Early reflections and the tail
ER Level changes the strength of the early reflection component; it is not an early/late crossfade. Lower it to emphasize the tail or raise it to make the first reflections more prominent. Size changes the spatial timing, while Decay governs the nominal tail length. Damping changes how that tail darkens; High Cut changes its frequency range.
Mix, bypass and the display
Mix uses an equal-power blend, with dry only at 0% and reverb only at 100%. Partial Mix can raise overall level depending on the source. Use 100% wet when a separate parallel branch supplies the dry signal.
Trails On stops new reverb input on bypass while the existing tail continues over unity dry audio. Off fades and clears it. Removing the block or changing to a preset that destroys it is outside this bypass-tail behavior.
Chain View names the selected Mode: HALL, CHAMBER, PLATE, AMBIENT or ROOM. The name stays selected as you edit the sound and dims during bypass. It also shows early-reflection bars and a separate curve representing the Decay setting. These respond to the controls; they are not a measured impulse response or an audio-level display. Predelay and Size do not reposition the graphics.
