SHARED SUPPORT / TROUBLESHOOTING

Troubleshooting

Checks for installation, scanning, loading, routing, and common setup problems.

The Plugin Does Not Appear In My DAW

  1. Quit and reopen the DAW.
  2. Run the DAW's plugin rescan.
  3. Confirm you installed the correct format for your host.
  4. Confirm the plugin exists in the expected folder:
    • macOS VST3: /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/
    • AU: /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/
    • macOS AAX: /Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins/
    • Windows VST3: C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\
    • Windows x64 AAX: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Avid\Audio\Plug-Ins\

An 80s Suite AAX Plug-in Does Not Appear In Pro Tools On Windows

The Windows 80s Suite 1.0.2 installer places 80s Rack.aaxplugin and the six effect .aaxplugin bundles in:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Avid\Audio\Plug-Ins\

  1. Quit Pro Tools and confirm the missing Signalworks .aaxplugin bundle is in

that folder. Do not move it into the Pro Tools application directory.

  1. Check C:\Program Files\Common Files\Avid\Audio\Plug-Ins (Unused)\. If the

bundle is there, move it back to the active Plug-Ins folder.

  1. Reopen Pro Tools and allow the AAX scan to finish.
  2. If the plug-in is still missing, quit Pro Tools and rebuild its AAX cache.

Pro Tools 2023.12 and later use C:\Users\Public\Pro Tools\AAXPlugInCache. Pro Tools 2023.9 and earlier use %APPDATA%\Avid\Pro Tools\InstalledAAXPlugIns. Rename or move only the applicable named cache item above—not its surrounding Pro Tools folder—then reopen Pro Tools so the cache can be recreated.

  1. If Pro Tools reports that the plug-in is invalid or cannot be loaded, rerun

the signed 80s Suite 1.0.2 installer before contacting support.

The Standalone App Cannot Hear My Guitar

This applies to 80s Rack standalone.

  1. Open the standalone app.
  2. Open audio settings.
  3. Choose the correct input and output device.
  4. On macOS, confirm microphone/audio input permission is allowed for 80s Rack.
  5. Confirm the startup input mute has been turned off after checking your level and routing.

The 80s Suite Stops Processing After 20 Minutes

The account-free demo lasts 20 minutes per DAW or standalone host session. Restart the host for a new demo session, or import the signed 80s Suite .lic file in Settings > Licensing. A valid license restores processing immediately, including after the demo has ended.

Presets Or Factory Content Are Missing

Signalworks factory/user presets are installed under:

  • macOS: /Users/Shared/SignalworksDSP/Presets/
  • Windows: C:\ProgramData\SignalworksDSP\Presets\

NAM and IR content used by the rig products may also be installed under:

  • macOS: /Users/Shared/SignalworksDSP/NAM/ and /Users/Shared/SignalworksDSP/IR/
  • Windows: C:\ProgramData\SignalworksDSP\NAM\ and C:\ProgramData\SignalworksDSP\IR\

If content is missing after an update, re-run the installer.

The four factory S88 models in 80s Rack are embedded in the plug-in and do not require loose NAM files. DualRig factory models and any user-loaded models still use normal files on disk.

A Preset Sounds Different After Moving Files

Presets that point to external NAM or IR files can be affected if those files are moved, deleted, renamed, or replaced. Reload the asset from its new location or restore it to the saved path. Embedded 80s Rack factory NAMs migrate automatically and are not affected by NAM folder changes.
